    Description

Includes a road map of Tasmania, a 25,000 square mile island that is the southernmost state in Australia, a wild place with just over a half-million residents that was once the world’s largest penal colony, where nearly half the land today is preserved as national parks and UNESCO World Heritage sites (from Hertz, circa 2010) and a map & guide to the Port Arthur region, on the Tasman Peninsula in the southeast of the island, which includes Tasman National Park, the Port Arthur Historic Site (it was an early center of the British penal colony) and a Tasmanian Devil Park, a preserve for the island state’s emblematic animal that is unfortunately endangered (from PARM, circa 2010).
